Skype Portraits

Archival Inkjet Prints, 2007-2008

-Portraits taken of Skype video calls over the internet using screen capture. This body of work explores the

meaning of the individual manifested as a digital signal. The person I am speaking to is removed several

times from their physical self to become a live feed on my screen. The individual is first transformed into a

digital signal from his or her physical location, then that signal is sent as binary code over the internet, and

then finallly manifested as a live visual representation of the person on my computer screen.
